The Verdict: Without a Doubt

"some people believe things because they hear voices and some people don't believe things until science says so. same belief, different basis."

How are those two beliefs even remotely the same? One believes based on unsubstantiated voices, the other on detailed investigation and experimentation to uncover the facts of reality with a minimum of assumptions. Comparing faith to science is like comparing a magic eight ball's message to a jury's verdict. Except that the eight ball can never change while the verdict is constantly in question and investigation.
